CarPool is operated as a private hobby project. We are not obliged or willing to participate in consumer arbitration proceedings.
CarPool is a tool for privately organizing carpools and is provided without warranty regarding uninterrupted availability, accuracy, completeness or suitability for a particular purpose.
Driver suggestions, distances, cost shares and balances are technical recommendations based on group entries. They are not legally binding invoices or settlements.
The app uses third-party services including Google Firebase, Stripe, Google Play and optionally Dropbox. Their availability and privacy practices are governed by the respective providers.
The group administrator is generally responsible for content entered into a specific group room. BlackDEV provides the technical platform. Platform-related privacy requests can be sent to the contact address above.
CarPool processes voluntarily entered names or pseudonyms, roles, driver/passenger type, destinations, distances, ride dates, attendance, optional cost rules, payment status, history entries and the admin email used for recovery and licensing.
Anonymous Firebase identifiers are used to protect room access and distinguish owners, administrators and members. The admin PIN is stored as a SHA-256 hash, not as plain text.
CarPool does not store GPS location data, contacts, calendars, photos, bank details or credit card data.
Group data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore in the EU multi-region eur3. Firebase Hosting may process technical server logs including IP addresses. Web purchases are processed by Stripe; store purchases may be processed by Google Play Billing. CarPool stores only the license and transaction metadata needed to assign and document a purchase.
If Dropbox backup is enabled, backup files are transferred to the Dropbox account selected by the user.
The device may store the room code, selected profile, language, onboarding status, consent settings and local support logs. CarPool does not use advertising cookies.
Firebase Analytics is used only after consent. Technical usage and device information may be processed for reliability and product improvement; group data entered by users is not used for analytics.
Data is processed to operate group rooms, coordinate rides fairly, manage licenses, prevent abuse, improve reliability and provide support. Depending on the context, processing is based on consent, legitimate interests, contractual performance or legal obligations.
Group data is not sold or used for advertising. It is shared only where required for hosting, database operation, payments, optional backup, support, abuse prevention or legal obligations.
The app uses HTTPS, Firebase Authentication, Firestore security rules and server-side functions for protected operations. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
An owner can immediately close a room in the app. The room is then locked for members and initially marked as deleted. Archive, license, payment and evidence data is retained only as long as needed for recovery, support, abuse prevention or legal obligations.
Final deletion can be requested as described on the data deletion page.
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and portability, and may lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. For group content, contact the group administrator first; platform requests may be sent to BlackDEV.
The app is intended for users aged 16 or older. Younger users require consent from a parent or legal guardian. This policy may be updated when the app or legal requirements change.
